iPad Care

Students are expected to exercise care for the iPad assigned to them.  It is easy to see that one of the largest pieces to the device is a glass screen.  Although somewhat rugged and designed for mobile use, a screen can break or a device can be damaged through carelessness as easily as from an accident.  Below is a short list of recommendations for the proper care of your iPad.

  • We highly recommend that each student purchase a protective case, and that the iPad always be carried in that protective case. (Learn more on our Accessories page)
  • Always remember your Apple ID and password.
  • You are expected to have your iPad with you for all classes each day.
  • As often as is possible, use the iPad on a firm surface.
  • If you carry the iPad inside a shoulder or book bag, please be careful not to drop or throw that bag carrying the iPad.
  • If the iPad is experiencing a technical issue, please see the tech department as soon as possible.
  • If the iPad becomes damaged, please have it repaired as soon as possible.  If needed, see the tech department for assistance.
  • Please configure the “Find my iPad” feature when setting up the iPad.
  • Always know the location of your iPad.
  • Do not leave your iPad unattended or unsecured.
  • Always be considerate of others and of their iPads.
  • Do not loan your iPad to someone else.
  • Please put an identification tag or sticker on your iPad.
  • Please do not deface your iPad.
  • Keep track of your charging equipment.
  • Do not pull, bend, or mutilate your sync/charging cable.
  • Keep your iPad clean.  Apple recommends the following approach:
    • Use only a soft, lint-free cloth. Abrasive cloths, towels, paper towels, and similar items may cause damage to the iPad.
    • Disconnect the iPad from any external power sources.
    • Disconnect any external devices and other cabling from the iPad.
    • Keep liquids away from the iPad.
    • Don’t get moisture into any openings, and don’t use aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasives.
    • Do not spray cleaners directly onto the iPad.
  • Always follow the Hackley Student Technology Responsible Use Policy.
