My child already has an iPad. Will he or she be able to use that one?
That will not be possible. Hackley School will be purchasing the iPads to be distributed to students. These devices will be pre-configured with much of the pertinent software and apps required by Hackley School.

What device will Hackley School be purchasing?
Hackley School will be purchasing the iPad Air with 32GB (gigabytes) of storage. Among its many uses, it is also It is our intention to move as many textbooks as possible to a digital format. Therefore we feel that the iPad Mini will not meet our needs.

Do we need Internet access at home as a requirement of the iPad program?
No, but as is currently the case, Internet access at home is highly recommended since every Hackley teacher will post classroom activities, homework, and other assignments to Hackley Online each day.

Should I buy accessories for the iPad?
It is highly recommended that families consider purchasing an iPad protective case, an external bluetooth keyboard, and a stylus. An iPad case will add an extra level of protection for the glass screen. Although the iPad includes a virtual, on-screen keyboard, a majority of our students feel more comfortable using an external keyboard for word processing. There are also many keyboard products which will also act as a protective case for the iPad. Lastly, some students may benefit from the use of a stylus, particularly in a math or science class. The choice of case, keyboard, and/or stylus is left to the student and/or family. Accessories for your iPad can be purchased directly from Apple, as well as from other online distributors. To help you decide, the Hackley Tech Department will have samples of keyboards, cases, and stylus on display in Goodhue 201 during the iPad distribution sessions scheduled for August.
