Shannon MacDonald holds Permanent NY certification in Elementary Education Pre K – 6 and Professional NY certification in Literacy K-6. She graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education from the College of Saint Rose (Albany, NY) and has a M.S. in Teaching Literacy from Mercy College (Dobbs Ferry/Yorktown), with distinction. Prior to teaching at Hackley, she has taught within Irvington UFSD, Carmel CSD (tenured), and in Waianae, HI, where she began teaching in 2003.
Shannon has attended and completed several PD opportunities in the realm of literacy, including (but not limited to): TCRWP, LitLife, Great Books Foundation, Orton-Gillingham, PAF, Heinemann, Teacher Reading Academies (Univ. of Texas at Austin-Hawai’i PD) and Learning and the Brain.
