Upper School

Below is a list of 3rd party online learning resources currently being used in Hackley School classrooms. All Upper School students are older than 13 years of age and therefore do not fall under the COPPA requirements. Regardless, we feel it important that we also include information regarding the online services offered in grades 9-12.

Adobe Creative Cloud Suite – a suite of visual/graphic arts and publishing product platforms used by a variety of our classes. Platforms include PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat and more. Student Privacy Policy, EDU Terms of Service

Big Ideas Math – Hackley students taking Geometry will be using a free online textbooks called Big Ideas Math – Geometry. No sign-in is required. Privacy Policy, Terms of Use

Blooket is a new take on trivia and review games! The way it works is that a teacher/host picks a question set and a unique game mode. Then, we generate a code that players can use to join the game on their own devices. After the game starts, players will answer questions to help them win. CodeHS – a comprehensive teaching platform for helping students learn computer science and computer programming. The platform provides web-based resources and tools, along with teacher tools and resources.  Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

DataClassroom is a tool for data visualization and analysis. The application lets students engage with data and do real analysis. Privacy Policy and Security, Terms of Service

EdPuzzle – A tool used by faculty to enhance their use of the flipped-classroom approach. Faculty can monitor student viewing and insert assessment questions throughout the presentation to monitor student learning. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

Flipgrid  – a free website tool that allows teachers to create “grids” to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called “topics,” and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display. Formative – Teachers use Formative to facilitate a flipped classroom model with videos, reading assignments, and written responses, or ask students to submit a video response to reflect about what they learned in class. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

Fusion 360 – is a cloud-based 3D modeling, CAD, CAM, CAE, and PCB software platform for product design and manufacturing. Students use this platform to design and engineer products to ensure aesthetics, form, fit, and function. They will then, often, fabricate their designs in our makerspace. Gimkit is a classroom game-show platform where students compete by answering questions on their electronic devices. Instead of earning points, students earn virtual currency, which they can “invest” during the game to boost their score. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

GitHub – A digital space that brings together the world’s largest community of software developers to discover, share, and build better software. From open source projects to private teams and classrooms. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform that makes it easy to create, share and play learning games or trivia quizzes in minutes. Unleash the fun in classrooms, offices and living rooms! Quia.com – Quia.com on the web is a tool teachers use to create online assessments and activities for students. This product is published by IXL Learning listed above. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

Quizlet is a web-based application developed to help students study information through interactive tools and games. Most of our students use it for self-study, while faculty offer Quizlet stacks for quiz and test preparation, and host Quizlet LIVE sessions as class activities. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

QuizizzAllows teachers to create and conduct student-paced formative assessments in a fun and engaging way for students of all ages. It’s totally free for teachers so no license keys are needed to get started. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

SchoolPress  – SchoolPress is an open source blogging environment, published by WordPress. These sites are hidden behind the HOL password, only specific faculty and students are given access to these blog sites, and activities are monitored by the faculty. To access our integrated WordPress, students will be required to use the same login credentials as HOL.  Privacy Policy 

Showbie – Students access this service through an app or through the Showbie web portal. Snowbie an easy to use application that acts as a hub for student work and teacher feedback. Students submit work to their teacher, the teacher assesses the work and sends it back to the student, all through the Showbie application. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

SmartMusic – A web-based suite of music education tools that support efficient practice, helping musicians to develop and grow. Privacy Statement, Terms & Conditions

SNO FLOW – A workflow system built for student media programs. FLOW helps students and teachers manage the workflow requirements that are port of running a journalism program. This platform is used by the editorial staff of our school publication, theDIAL. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

Socrative – A formative assessment tool which provides fun and effective tools to assess student learning in real-time. It is used by faculty to help modify instruction to drive student learning. Privacy Policy, Terms of Use

Suburani – an online, digital supplement to the textbook by the same name. This supplement is used on both middle and upper school Classics courses.  Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions

Turnitin is an originality checking and plagiarism prevention service that checks student-submitted writing for citation mistakes or inappropriate copying. VoiceThread is a platform that supports collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate slides and leave comments in 5 ways – using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Privacy Policy, Terms of Use

Wordwall takes vocabulary games and reviews into the digital world, and is easy to use for teachers and learners. Wordwall can be used to create both interactive and printable activities. Most of the templates are available in both an interactive and a printable version. Interactives are played on any web-enabled device, like a computer, tablet, phone or interactive whiteboard.
