Below is a list of 3rd party online learning resources currently being used in Hackley School Lower School classrooms.

Blender – a free and open source 3D creation suite. It supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline—modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, even video editing and game creation.  Privacy Policy

BrainPOPBrainPOP – BrainPOP delivers animated, curricular content that supports learning across grade levels and curricular areas. Our current subscription also allows for “at home” access for Hackley families. All users share the same user ID and password, so no personally identifiable information on any given student is captured when logging in or using this service. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

CANVA is a web tool which supports student work in designing presentations, graphics, posters, flyers, infographics, and much more. Canva includes thousands of beautiful layouts for students to use. Privacy Policy, Terms of Use

Code.org – a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to computer science in schools and increasing participation by women and underrepresented youth. Code.org supports a well articulated learning platform that teachers and students use to learn about computer science and computer programming. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

Epic! – A vast library of curated and graded reading resources for elementary-aged students. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

Flipgrid  – a free website tool that allows teachers to create “grids” to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called “topics,” and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display. Flocabulary is a website with hundreds of educational hip-hop videos and supplemental activities for younger students including vocab cards and games, read & respond, and quizzes. Flocabulary covers math, vocabulary, language arts, social studies, science, and SEL and offers a weekly news update. Privacy Policy, Terms of Use.

Genially is a software platform that lets you add lots and lots of interactive elements to your slides… it even lets you upload PowerPoints and turn them into a genially presentation! Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions

Guided Readers – a complete guided reading program that covers systematic phonics instructions, sight words, comprehension, vocabulary, fluency and guided writing. Privacy Policy, Terms of Use

Kodable – a platform that teaches kids to code at home or school using fun interactive games while providing teachers with a complete K-5 coding curriculum. Kodable Privacy Center.

Learning A-Z – Learning A-Z publishes two, very fine, literacy products currently used across our lower school. These include Reading A-Z and RazKids. These resources include readers, lessons, worksheets, interactive audio books, and other materials which can all be customized to meet student needs. Mathodology (think!Mathematics) – a new mathematics curriculum launched by our lower school during the 2022-2023 school year. Mystery Science – Mystery Science provides lessons that inspire kids to love science. Focusing on K-5, this resource offers wonderfully interactive and engaging lessons aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. Oregon Trail – The game is simple and was created to teach school children about the life of a 19th century pioneer on the Oregon Trail. You get to play the role of a wagon leader and guide your group of chosen settlers from Independence, Missouri, to the Willamette Valley in Oregon while traveling along the Oregon Trail in 1848. Quizlet is a web-based application developed to help students study information through interactive tools and games. Most of our students use it for self-study, while faculty offer Quizlet stacks for quiz and test preparation, and host Quizlet LIVE sessions as class activities. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

SCRATCH is an online programming environment used in our computer classes to teach computation thought, problem solving, and introductory computer programming. It has been developed specifically for student learning by the MIT Media Lab. Lower School students do not create accounts within SCRATCH, so no personally identifiable information about a student is shared or passed. Privacy Policy, Terms of Use

Scratch Jr. is a coding platform used by our youngest learers. Students are introduced to visual coding. Students learn to solve problems, design projects, and express themselves creatively on the computer. Privacy Policy

Seesaw – Student driven digital portfolios and simple parent communication. Students can create, reflect, share, and collaborate, and “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. Privacy Policy, Terms of Service

Stop Motion Studio – an app for iPad or Chromebook to create stop-action movies with a whole host of unique features including a frame-by-frame editor, timeline tool, and a sound editor. Privacy Policy

Storyboard That – an easy drag-and-drop creation platform. The Storyboard Creator allows people of all skill levels to create amazing visuals for teaching, learning, and communicating. The application includes many layouts, and hundreds of characters, scenes, and search items. Thinglinka platform that makes annotating digital items super simple. Students and teachers  can use images, videos, or 360-degree interactive images for tagging. Through the addition of icons, or ‘tags,’ users can pull in or link off to rich media. By adding tags, students can interact with the media, drawing more detail from it. Tynker – an interactive story-based learning that allows kids and teens to learn the basics with easy block-based coding challenges before seamlessly transitioning to real-world text-based languages like JavaScript and Python. Student User Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, Additional Terms for Educational Institutions

Typing Club – an online typing tutor program used by students in grades 2-4. This is used by teachers and students in grades 2-4 to build their typing skills and enhance their learning.
