Mars may be hiding tantalizing lakes beneath its glaciers

National Geographic

This article is about how there may be lakes beneath Mars’ glaciers. In 2018, scientists found  a large lake about twelve miles across. New research reveals that there may be multiple small ponds surrounding the lake. Scientists believe that these may be remnants of an ancient ocean. Some scientists who study Mars don’t believe that there could be liquid water on Mars even beneath its glaciers.

I chose this article because it sounded interesting that there may have once been life on Mars. This article means for science that there may have once been oceans or lakes on Mars, which means there could have once been life on Mars. It doesn’t change the way we look at old evidence because there was evidence in 2018 of a large lake. This is not brand new breaking news, it just builds on something scientists discovered two years ago. This relates to when we learned about planets last year. This information is important to the world because it means that there could have once been life on Mars.
